Group outside a landscaping trailor ready to start working

On Tuesday, March 18th, the Science National Honor Society, with the generous assistance of Gillam Lawn Care and Landscaping officially broke ground on the new community garden. This project is designed to provide hands-on learning opportunities for students while creating a space for fresh produce and community engagement.

During the groundbreaking, students edged out the garden, stripped the sod, and laid down topsoil generously donated by Mad River Mulch and Topsoil. The team also tilled space for in-ground plots and installed landscape fabric to create walkways and container gardening areas.

The next steps for the project include continuing to grow indoor seeds, setting up fencing, and preparing additional planting areas. The Science National Honor Society welcomes community support, and donations are still being accepted to help bring this vision to life. Contributions can be made to Greenon Local Schools, Attn: Science National Honor Society.

Stay tuned for updates as the garden continues to grow!
