Enon, Ohio — Greenon Local School District is excited to announce its intent to join the Central Buckeye Conference (CBC) starting in the 2027-2028 school year. After consideration and discussions with coaches, administrators, and the Board of Education, the district believes this move will create significant opportunities for both student-athletes and the overall athletic program.

The decision to pursue membership in the CBC is based on the opportunity to generate increased financial support for our athletic programs. Gate revenue data has shown that CBC events consistently bring in higher gate revenue. This additional financial support will allow the district to reinvest directly into athletics, expanding opportunities for student-athletes to grow and compete.

Additionally, the CBC offers a wider variety of sports and more consistent participation in junior varsity and freshman teams across several sports. This would create more opportunities for our student-athletes to play and develop athletically.

“This is an exciting step forward for our athletic programs,” said Brandon Weems, Athletic Director for Greenon Local Schools. “The increased financial support will allow us to create better opportunities for our student-athletes and elevate our programs to new levels. Additionally, the depth and competitiveness of the CBC will help prepare our athletes to succeed both on and off the field.”

The district has been transparent about this potential transition, addressing it at the last three Board of Education meetings and gathering feedback from coaches and stakeholders throughout the process. The change to the CBC reflects the district’s commitment to prioritizing the success and development of our student-athletes and ensuring they have access to the best possible opportunities.

As we prepare to transition to the CBC in the 2027-2028 school year, Greenon Local would like to thank the OHC for its partnership and collaboration. We look forward to this new chapter in our athletic programs and the opportunities it will bring for our students, staff, and community. Go Knights!
