Greenon High School proudly hosted the 2025 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, January 17, 2025. The night was dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of former athletes and teams who have left a mark on Greenon Local athletics.
Mr. Weems welcomed attendees, stating, "Tonight’s event highlights our tradition of excellence, teamwork, and community spirit that continues to inspire future generations of Greenon Knights. Let’s celebrate the inductees' achievements and lasting impact on Greenon High School."
Founded in 2011, with the inaugural class inducted in 2012, the Greenon Athletic Hall of Fame honors individuals and teams who have achieved exceptional athletic success and brought pride to the Greenon community. This year, three inductees were celebrated for their contributions:
Larrie White – Class of 1984
Larrie White was a dominant force in Greenon basketball and track and field, contributing to three CBC Championship basketball teams and earning four varsity letters in track. His basketball career included averages of 14 points and 5 rebounds per game, and nine dunks. On the track, Larrie was a three-time CBC Champion in the High Jump and the 1983 Class AAA State Runner-Up. He holds the school record with a jump of 6’ 9 1/4” and later became an OAC 3 time champion and achieved All-American status at Baldwin Wallace College, where he reached a height of 6’ 10 1/2”.
Laura Culbertson – Class of 2002
A four-year varsity letter winner in tennis, Laura Culbertson’s career at Greenon is unmatched. Laura was a two-time State Qualifier, a Sectional Champion in 2001, and MVP all four years. With an undefeated 37-0 regular season during her junior and senior years, Laura’s remarkable career record of 94-13 helped lead Greenon to a CBC Team Championship in 2000. Laura’s dedication extended beyond the court, as she graduated at the top of her class before playing Division I tennis at Wright State University.
1994 Boys Soccer Team
The 1994 Greenon Boys Soccer Team achieved an extraordinary milestone as State Runners-Up under the leadership of Coach Gene Pitstick. With a record of 19-2-1, the team showcased the resilience, skill, and camaraderie that define Greenon athletics. This historic team was comprised of talented players and dedicated coaches whose teamwork and determination made them a model of success for future Greenon athletes.
Greenon High School congratulates Larrie White, Laura Culbertson, and the 1994 Boys Soccer Team on their induction into the Athletic Hall of Fame. Their achievements inspire all of us to strive for excellence both on and off the field.
