"We would like to thank Mr. Silvus for his service and dedication to Greenon during his time here and wish him the best on the next step of his journey," said Board President Dennis Henry. "The Board of Education will meet in executive session on May 19 to determine the best path forward in selecting our next superintendent."
Mr. Silvus, who joined the district in 2015, has accepted the role of superintendent at Graham Local Schools.
During his time at the district, Mr. Silvus has led the construction process of a new Kindergarten through 12th grade school that will open in the fall of 2021. Voters approved a bond issue to build the new school in May 2017 through a funding partnership with the state.
"It has been an honor to lead and represent Greenon Schools," said Mr. Silvus. "I appreciate the support I have had from the Board of Education, staff, students, families, and the community."
Mr. Silvus will complete the school year and assist with transition over the summer until July 31, 2020. The Board will share additional information with the community as decisions are made about the process to select new leadership.
The special board meeting begins at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, in the Indian Valley Media Center.
